Nokia Corporation (ADR)(NYSE:NOK): Dutch Court Barred HTC from using STMicro microphones
Nokia Corporation (ADR)(NYSE:NOK) gets a good news just now as the Dutch court ordered HTC Corp not to use microphone components made by STMicroelectronics NV in HTC One phones.
The Finnish phone maker said in a statement announcing the decision by the Amsterdam District Court that the microphone components were invented by Nokia and manufactured exclusively for Nokia phones.
Nokia said “HTC has no license or authorization from Nokia to use these microphones or the Nokia technologies from which they have been developed.”
Nokia has been fighting very hard amid rising competition from Apple and Google over the past few years as the company has already lost majority of its market share as tech lovers shifted from normal phones to smartphones. Nokia has been one of the late inventor of Smartphone following Samsung and Apple.
Shares of NOK gained 13 cents or 4.40 at $3.20. The stock was down 10% last week on lackluster earnings.
