Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) Q10 Launches In The UK, Elusiveness Remains
Research In Motion Ltd(NASDAQ:BBRY) Q10 has been launched in the United Kingdom. However, the smartphone is only available from one retailer. While other retailers will be offering the device soon, it is not clear when.
Selfridges in London happens to be the sole retailer that has been stocking the latest BlackBerry Q10 in the UK. It will start offering the device 28th April onwards. Other leading mobile operators and retailers, including Phones4U will be stocking the device later.
The leading department store is presently the only stockist for the BlackBerry Q10, the SIM free version of which is priced at 579. Customers for T-Mobile, O2, EE, Three and Orange will have to wait till the operators start offering the device, which is believed to be in the weeks to come.
O2, EE and T-Mobile are not yet clear about the dates from when they would make the device available on their networks. However, Vodafone has started taking pre-orders for the smartphone. Even though spokesman for O2 could not provide a possible release date for the Q10, the ‘coming soon’ list of the network says that the phone will be available possibly from 29th April.
Vodafone happens to be the only network that has its pre-order process on the go at the time of writing and is offering the smartphone at £33 per month based on 2-year contracts with an upfront cost for the phone at £129.
Three is the sole operator that could not confirm if it will be offering the phone at all.
Carphone Warehouse and Phoes4U have the BlackBerry Q10 available for pre-order on a variety of networks and price packages. Both the retailers are offering discounts for customers that place orders for the device. The first 300 customers to place orders on Phones4U will get a BlackBerry Playbook for free. Customers who place orders with Carphone Warehouse will get a mini Bluetooth speaker for free.
