Tech Review: Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)
There are talks of Microsoft Corporation(NASDAQ:MSFT) and five B2B resellers over flogging Surface Pro for corporate customers. Until now, Microsoft was selling Surface Pro only through the webshop direct as well as few select UK retailers including John Lewis and PC World.
Launched in US earlier this year, IDC has estimated over 900,000 Pro devices and Suface RT devices were shipped in the first quarter. Some sources reveal that the company knows that there is a need to widen distribution and those negotiations are on with Insight, Misco, SCC and Kelway.
The company’s US directors are leading the talk as the software giant is yet to recruit a local UK team. It is also seeking support of channel partner for the education space. The Pro is likely to be a PC replacement and the target markets are the tech buyers at small, medium as well as large enterprises.
But the Surface may face a few challenges such as lack of applications in app store as well as heavy price tag. The Pro made its debut in May at a price tag of £719 for the 64GB model and about £799 for the 128GB configuration but there is a word spreading on the street that the new one would replace the previous one.
Apple Inc.(NASDAQ:AAPL) has filed trademark application for “iWatch” in Japan. This news comes after a few rumors that the company is working on some kind of smartwatch.
Even though these rumors were not confirmed, the company flashed a watch in one of the recent ads. There are also reports of the company assembling team of 100 product designers for working on a smartwatch which could be connected to iOS devices. There are similar rumors of search engine giant Google working on a smartwatch and so are other major players in the market.
